Sullivan became the fifth Colby golfer to earn all-league honors since the NESCAC started playoff systems in their sports in 2000. Sullivan also became the third Colby golfer to earn ALL-NESCAC First Team honors after finishing in fifth place at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier at Brunswick Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday. Sulli - van was in third place after his opening round 73 on Saturday and closed out the tournament with a 79 on Sunday for a 36 hole score of 152. Goeff Sullivan Colby College
“I started taking lessons from Stephen Ventre about two years ago. I had been a single digit handicap player. The loss of distance, due to the aging process, caused me to mod- ify my swing which led to bad results. Stephen has helped me to restore the balance in my swing. This has led to much better ball striking. Stephen is an excellent teacher. He is patient and has the knowledge of a good golf swing and how to get you there. Stephen uses the Track Man System which helps the student to graphically observe his/her golf swing compared to the desired results. This is an excellent teaching aid. Recently I came within one stroke of shooting my age which I credit to Stephen’s instruc- tion. I recommend him highly as a golf instructor.” Stan Baker Ould Newbury Golf Club "I have been taking lessons from Stephen for the last 2 years and he is by far, hands down, the best golf instructor on the North Shore. If you have a passion for the game you owe it to yourself and your golf game to go and see him as he is one of the best around." Michael Piraino West Peabody, MA
"I first started taking lessons from Stephen in the summer of 2009. I was going into my freshman year at St. Johns Prep High School in Danvers, Massachu- setts with high expectations for making the golf team. Coming into the lessons I was a decent golfer and shot in the high 80's low 90's. I did not have the greatest swing, but my athleticism made me a good player. After working with Stephen for about a month he fixed my golf swing for me to shoot the best possible round i could with only being coached for 4 weeks. In August, I had tryouts for golf in which I shot three rounds all in the low 80's with the help of Stephen. Within a month I shaved about nine strokes off of my aver- age being coached by him. As a result I became the number one golfer for the junior varsity team at the Prep. Out of all the things Stephen has taught me throughout this past few months I always think of one thing on the golf course which is, you never want to over think things. He told me if I hit a bad shot just clear your mind of everything and start over on the next shot to minimize your mistakes. In the months that I have worked with him it is amazing even to myself how much i have improved. Before I started working with Stephen I really only golfed about once a week with my dad, I just didn't have the ambition to go out and play golf more than that but working with Stephen has made me realize that if I went out and played more often I could get a lot better at golf and have a future in it. Stephen has taught me so much in these past few months, I am excited to work ahead with him and I know he will continue to make me a better overall player at every aspect of the game." Brandon Bingel St. John's Prep High School Peabody, MA
“I am 53 years old and have been working with Stephen Ventre to improve my golf game for more than three years. He is an excellent golf instructor who has helped me improve my game tremendously in all phases, tee shot, iron play, pitching, chipping, sand play and putting. Stephen is extremely knowl- edgeable about the science of the golf swing but more importantly he understands the sci- ence of communication and uses different methods to enable his students to fully understand his points. When I first went to Stephen I had some serious issues with my tee game and my handicap had ballooned from 11 to 16. I am now a consistent 9 handicap player and am having much more fun playing golf, thanks to Stephen. “ George Sullivan Ipswich, MA "When I first started with Stephen, I had only been on a golf course twice in my life. My goal was to put the ball in the air consistently and start learning some golf fundamentals. Stephen was able to quickly change my goals from putting the ball in the air to breaking 100. My second time on the golf course, 100 was broken. So, we changed my goal to breaking 90. Two months later, 90 was bro- ken. The rest of my season, my goal was to play in the 80s consistently. Well, that goal was met too. Our goal by the end of this sea- son is to break 80. Within one year, my expectations went from putting the ball in the air to playing the game at a strong level and becoming a better all around golfer. Stephen’s ability to communicate with me on a level that I understand, and use examples and analogies that I can relate to, make each les- son extremely valuable. Some of most our most productive lessons have come when we barely work on mechanics or practice, but rather spend a significant amount of time talking about mental part of the game, the difference between what I feel and what really is happening in the swing, and how to approach the game on the golf course." Alan Arruda Medford, MA "I have been a student of Stephen’s for three years. During that time, Stephen has adjusted and customized my swing specifi- cally for me and my body limitations. Each lesson was tailor made for me! Then, through much practice, I was able to apply all of Stephens’s golf techniques and the results followed. Today I am striking the ball much better and my distance has greatly improved. I am playing the game more consistently and my confidence on the golf course has grown. I credit Stephen with taking my game to the next level. His professionalism and patience is invaluable to any golfer at any level." Bob Keating Stoneham, MA "Two years ago I was ready to give up golf. My handicap was 25; I tried new clubs, I went to the range, I practiced my putting, nothing seemed to help. I was frustrated. Steve came highly recommended. His instruction skills are precise and easy to fol- low, he has great patience and a relaxed style. My game improved remarkably. My handicap is now a 12! Thanks to Steve, I now enjoy golfing and have much more confi- dence on the course. Louis Finocchiaro Austin Prep Hockey Coach "During the 4 years working with Stephen, I have captured Two Club Championship Titles and one runner-up finish. I have past my playing ability test and have recently passed all my requirements of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. I was elected to membership in January 2009 and am cur- rently a Class A PGA Professional!" Craig McLaughlin Woburn, MA
I was a 20 handicap before I came down with a bad case of the shanks. I went from not being able to hit an iron in the air to a couple of my best rounds ever. I shot a 75 and a 79 at Beverly Golf and Tennis. I am now currently a 12 handi- cap and continue to see Stephen on a regular basis." Dan McGrath Beverly, MA "I worked with Stephen once or twice a week indoors during the winter months. When the good weather came, I immedi- ately saw a huge improved in my game. I happen to have two hole-in-ones within a 13 day stretch. I dropped my handi- cap from a 26 to a 12 by the completion of that season." Gerry Squires Quincy, MA
Stephen, I want to thank you for the great lessons this past season. My game and my swing have been trans- formed this year. It was amazing to see the improvement in my swing on video from my first lesson to what it looks like today. My index has dropped from 3.5 to 0.6 A huge improvement! My ball striking, particularly my irons/approach shot is like night and day. My shots are now solid with a strong, penetrating flight and on target. I have gained significant distance as well-at least 20 yards on average with my driver. Par 5's which I typically had to lay up I now routinely go for, par 5's that I could never quite reach I can get home in two, and Par 4's that I would typically have a 5 iron (even a 4 iron) in I now normally hit a 7 iron (or a 8 iron) approach shot. In addition, with your help my putting has significantly improved-I drain many more significant putts, my distance control is right on the mark, and overall my putts are much more solid. One of the most valuable things that I have learned, is when I do miss a shot, I KNOW WHY AND HOW TO FIX IT during the round. I look forward to continuing to work with you." Stacey Arbetter N. I've been working with Stephen for two years and I've seen my handicap go from a 19 - 11. More importantly Stephen has helped me to understand the technical aspects of the game whether it's my swing, my short game or my putting I have gained an under- standing of how to play the game given different scenarios. I have found the video aspect of the training to be most helpful in seeing the proper swing and then feeling it. " Lou Maiuri Topsfield, MA "I have spent the last three years work- ing with Stephen, and during these years I have won a Junior Championship Title and have been the runner-up twice. I also started on the high school varsity golf team my first three years. The last two seasons I have been the number one point scorer and MVP of the team. I have been able to play in the state tournament all three seasons, and quali- fied individually for the state finals this season I was accepted to go down to Pinehurst North Carolina to play in the North Shore Junior Amateur Tourna- ment, which Stephen has helped me through. Not only has he helped me with the physical aspects of my game, but he has helped me with the emotional and mental part of it. He has taught me to keep my composure, stay calm, and play one shot at a time. This has helped me drop my handicap from an eighteen down to a three. I am a junior at Lynn- field High School, and look forward to continue working with Stephen through the end of my junior year, all through my senior year, and hopefully through my college years as a collegiate golfer." Paul O'Brien Lynnfield, MA "For the past two years Stephen has been my golf instructor. From my very first lesson, I began hitting the ball far- ther and straighter than ever before. His encouragement and constant support has made me strive for more in my game. Whether it was my swing, my short game or my putting, Stephen was able to adjust and correct my inconsis- tencies and teach me the proper tech- niques. Immediately I was getting results! My scores dropped, my confi- dence soared and my love for the game grew. It is Stephen’s great golf knowl- edge coupled with his enthusiasm and love of the game that makes him a tremendous instructor and more impor- tantly my “golf whisperer!” Sandra Petti Stoneham, MA "I am a golfer at the collegiate level try- ing to elevate my golf game to the next level. Stephen and I began working together in May of 2006 and since then I have began to understand the science of MY golf swing. In addition to working on the physical aspects of the game, Stephen has greatly shaped the way I approach competitive golf mentally and the way I manage my game on the golf course." Nick Antonelli Salem State Golf "My time with Steve has enabled me to learn the game the proper way and understand the golf swing and theories of golf. My enjoyment of the game is much greater than I ever expected. Steve has a unique teaching philosophy of adapting to each of his students and not teaching a cookie cutter swing. Practicing his drills has helped me enor- mously with my game and his prepara- tion and planning goes above and beyond what I ever expected. Steve has a genuine interest in his student’s suc- cess and wishes to improve upon and correct our failures. I have recom- mended Steve too many friends and hold him in the highest regard as a teaching professional." Michael Carlson Saugus, MA

“I have been taking lessons from Stephen since the summer of 2011. My average score has improved from the mid to high 80’s to the mid to low 70’s. I recently fin- ished my junior golf season in the top spot for the Lynn English Golf Team. While training with Stephen I have won a Junior Club Championship at Gannon Golf Course in 2012 and I also a won on the Junior New England PGA Tour at Renaissance GC in 2013. All of the credit goes to Stephen for the immense changes in my game and he has been such a huge influence for me on and off the golf course.” Matt Sencabaugh Lynn English High School
My daughter started golfing and taking lessons from Stephen Ventre three years ago at the age of 15 years old. Today she is a single digit handicap and has won over 14 tournaments in the last two seasons playing on the New England Junior PGA Tour. She loves the game of golf and plans to pursue working & playing in the golf industry. Abby has a learning disability which limits her opportunities for pursuing golf at a higher education level. Stephen was able to effectively work with my daughter by modifying his teaching methods in a way that she could understand. Stephen has helped my daughter learn the fundamentals of the golf game which has improved her overall score. Stephen has improved her short game as well as developing an awesome overall golf swing. Stephen has also included recommendations on physical conditioning which includes overall flexibility and core strengthening to improve her overall performance. We credit my daughter’s success to a combination of her dedication and training from Stephen. I would highly recommend Stephen to anyone seeking to improve their golf game at any level.” Al Taney - The Meadows at Peabody 12/2016
"Our son, Aidan, started working with Stephen before entering high school and because of what he learned and the confidence he gained, he tried out and made his high school varsity golf team as a freshman. Aidan ended his freshman season as the number 7 golfer on his team. Aidan continued working with Stephen and ended his sophomore golf season as the number 2 golfer, was elected team MVP, and captain of the golf team for his upcoming junior year! Not only did Aidan's skills improve but he is a much more confident golfer with a better attitude. Stephen has taken the time to get to know Aidan and is a mentor and friend to him along with being his coach." Kevin & Silia Kelly - Lynnfield 12/2016
Stephen, You have helped me tremendously with my game. My drives are 20 yards longer. I have chipped in numerous times and my short game is really helping my score. I have not broken 80 yet but have had scores ranging from 80 (twice) to 85 in that range. I have taken lessons from various PGA professionals but you are the only one that has made a difference in my game. Thanks you and I am sure I will be back for more lessons. James Capomaccio 8/2016
